The New River Valley Kennel Club is an American Kennel Club licensed club serving the New River Valley in southwest Virginia. Our members are involved in conformation showing, obedience, agility, breeding, training and every aspect of responsible dog ownership and sport that the AKC offers. The breeds represented by our membership are many but our dedication to the sport of purebred dogs brings us together to share our experiences, devotion and love of dogs.
The New River Valley Kennel Club hosts an all breed conformation show in conjunction with the Roanoke Kennel Club and the James River Kennel Club under the banner of The Mountain Valley Cluster, a five-show cluster in Salem, VA, each summer. We also host annual two-day obedience and rally trials
as well as offering Canine Good Citizens tests.
The Objectives of the New River Valley Kennel Club are
- to further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
- to do all in its power to protect and advance the best interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and dog fanciers of all matters.
- the dissemination of knowledge on all aspects of purebred dogs, their training, breeding, exhibition, health and welfare.
- to promote the training and breeding of purebred dogs.
- to encourage and cooperate with individuals and other groups with similar purposes
- to support and hold sanctioned matches, dog shows, and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
